This course would not exist without the loving support of Robin's teacher, Rama

Rama Jyoti Vernon, Yoga Master (1941-2020)

Rama Jyoti Vernon is one of America’s first Yoga Teachers, and was instrumental in bringing many great teachers from India to the U.S., including BKS Iyengar.  She co-founded the Yoga Journal, later developed Unity in Yoga, and founded The American Yoga College, now named the International Yoga College.

In the 1980’s, Rama found herself applying Yoga philosophy to international peacemaking. She made dozens of trips to the U.S.S.R, and founded the Center for International Dialogue (CID), an organization dedicated to conflict resolution.  Winner of an Achievement Award from President Gorbachov for being instrumental in the ending of the Cold War, Rama remains on the front line in the Middle East, working for peace.

In addition to her extensive background in asana, Rama is extremely well versed in the philosophy, lineages and healing benefits of Yoga.  Widely regarded as an authority on the Yoga Sutras, she is fluent in Sanskrit and employs the language in a wonderful, accessible way.  Her warm, down to earth manner gives her students a sense of true connection to her, and inspires them to live their yoga in a very real way on a daily basis.  These qualities make her one of the most beloved and inspiring teachers in the US today.
